Gen10 Plus v2
Advanced performance in a small form factor - HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2
Compact HPE MicroServers are popular entry-level systems designed to reliably meet the day-to-day needs of small businesses. They are cost-effective, small footprint solutions that can be deployed to handle a variety of workloads and provide basic services in environments without complex IT infrastructure. Low power consumption and quiet operation enable discreet integration in small offices and branches without a dedicated server room. Versatile configuration options also allow the servers to be adapted to different performance requirements. The 10 Plus v2 generation offers increased performance through the Intel C252 chipset with support for new processors over the previous generation, as well as other improvements in memory and connectivity.
New Intel Socket LGA 1200 processors for the HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2
The selection of the CPU (central processing unit) has a direct impact on server performance. The HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2 supports a range of processor configurations to provide sufficient computing power for almost any small business application. In addition to Intel Xeon E-2300 series CPUs, 10th generation Pentium G processors in the LGA 1200 (Land Grid Array) socket are used for lower requirements.
The available processor models differ in terms of the number of cores and the achievable clock speed, resulting in significant differences in power consumption and cooling. As ProLiant MicroServers are powered by an external 180W power supply, the technical possibilities are limited compared to much larger tower and rack servers. The top-of-the-range Xeon E-2300 processors run with 8 cores and a maximum turbo clock frequency of up to 5.1GHz, which exceeds both the electrical and thermal limits of a MicroServer at full load, taking into account the other components. However, the systems' motherboards can accommodate high-performance processors with lower power consumption and heat dissipation, with the manufacturer's technical documentation providing helpful information on supported CPU models.
More memory and higher memory speed in HPE ProLiant MicroServers Gen10 Plus v2
The ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2 supports the DDR4 memory standard (Double Data Rate) for RAM modules (Random Access Memory), with a maximum total capacity of 64 gigabytes (GB). Two available DIMM slots (Dual In-line Memory Module) support unbuffered modules (UDIMM) at speeds up to PC4-3200, depending on the CPU installed. There is no need to use registered memory (RDIMM), unlike in larger server solutions that offer significantly more slots. Nevertheless, the MicroServers support ECC (Error Correction Code), the proven error correction method, to detect and correct memory errors. This makes them suitable for critical and memory-intensive applications.
Small chassis with expansion options - HPE ProLiant MicroServers Gen10 Plus v2 with PCI-Express 4.0
Despite the very compact form factor, ProLiant MicroServers offer several options for system expansion. By installing a PCIe riser board, the servers can accommodate a half-height, half-length, low-profile expansion card, with the Gen10 Plus v2 supporting the high-performance PCIe Gen4 standard. In addition, the riser board allows the installation of an optional iLO enablement kit (Integrated Lights-Out) to provide the MicroServer with advanced remote management capabilities.
HPE ProLiant MicroServers Gen10 Plus v2 offer versatile connectivity options
External connectivity provides multiple options to integrate the server into almost any environment. The rear panel includes both a VGA and DisplayPort port for monitors, as well as multiple USB Type A ports with 2.0 and 3.2 standards for connecting peripherals or external devices. The integrated network card provides four RJ45 ports on the rear panel for connecting the MicroServer to the existing network environment, and at 1 Gbit/s provides a transfer rate sufficient for many infrastructures. Two USB 3.2 ports on the front can be used to easily connect external storage media, and a boot drive for the operating system can be installed on another port inside the chassis.
High capacity storage options in the HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2
For high storage capacity requirements, ProLiant MicroServers offer extensive hard drive options with a total of four drive bays. Both 3.5" LFF (large form factor) and 2.5" SFF (small form factor) drives are supported, and HDD (hard disk drive) and SSD (solid state drive) models can be installed with the appropriate trays, depending on application requirements. When fully configured with four HDDs, each with a capacity of up to 4 terabytes (TB), a total capacity of 16 TB can be achieved.
To manage the disks, HPE ProLiant Gen Plus v2 MicroServers feature an integrated Intel VROC (Virtual RAID on CPU) storage controller with support for SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) drives. RAID levels 0/1/5/10 (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) allow different configurations to achieve increased data security or faster access speeds. Depending on the operating system used, there may be restrictions on the configuration options, so the manufacturer's technical documentation provides important information that should be followed.
